Background

SIMUN 2025 returns for its highly anticipated second edition at Sorbonne University in Paris, France – a city where history, diplomacy, and culture converge to create an unforgettable MUN experience.

From April 16th to 19th, delegates from around the world will gather to engage in dynamic debates, explore diverse perspectives, and craft creative solutions to today’s most pressing global challenges.

What makes SIMUN truly special is its unique mix of rigorous academic discussion and vibrant social events, all set against the backdrop of Paris’ iconic charm. Whether you’re a seasoned delegate or attending your very first conference, SIMUN offers a space to grow, learn, and connect with passionate young leaders.

All committees will be conducted in English, ensuring a shared platform for international dialogue and exchange. With an inspiring theme – Diplomacy in the Service of Humanity: Facing Global Crises – SIMUN 2025 promises an intellectually stimulating journey that goes beyond formal sessions, fostering lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.

Preparatory Track

The Preparatory Track for Leiden MUN’s delegation to SIMUN 2025 will run from early March until late April 2025 (exact dates below). Delegates will be thoroughly trained in the arts of public speaking, negotiation, resolution writing, leadership and more. Further information is provided under the “How we teach” section of this website. Moreover, we offer delegates the enriching experience of visiting embassies within The Hague. This allows you the unique experience of engaging in dynamic and thought-provoking conversations with professionals in the International Relations and Diplomacy fields. Not only will you have an opportunity to deepen your understanding of politics and diplomacy through hearing first-hand, real-life experiences, but you will also gain insight into job applications and networking.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be a student of Leiden University or Leiden University College.

  • Must be over 18 at the time you send your application.

Practicalities

Application deadline: 6 February 2025, 23:59.

Preparatory Track: 26 February - 13 April 2025.

  • The Skills Labs and Mock Sessions take place every Tuesday (19:45-21:45) and Wednesday (19:00-22:00) evenings in The Hague.

Travel dates to/from Munster: 16 April - 20 April 2025.

Delegation fee: €380.

  • The fee covers the costs for transport, accommodation, training, the conference delegate fee, and one delegate dinner in Paris.
