Interested in becoming a delegate with us? Here are the key things you need to know.

Our application cycles are on a Prep Track basis. This means that when you apply to become a delegate, you do so for a specific Prep Track and conference. If you want to be part of multiple delegations (which also means completing multiple Prep Tracks and attending their respective conferences), you will have to apply and get selected for each.

  • Each academic year, we send 3 delegations to international MUN conferences. These are:

    The application dates for each Prep Track and Conference are always different, but as a rough estimate, applications for the 3 delegations traditionally open in :

    • Late August/early September for the fall Prep Track and conference (IE University MUN);

    • Late October/early November for the winter Prep Track and conference (Harvard National MUN);

    • Late February/early March for the spring conference.

    Keep an eye on our website and Instagram to stay up to date with the application deadlines!

    • Must be a student of Leiden University. The level of study (bachelors, masters, etc) and the study programme (International Relations, Law, Computer Science, Leiden University College, etc) do not matter.

    • Must be over the age of 18 at the time of travel to the conference itself. This means that you can be 17 when you apply, but you must be a legal adult by the time we travel together to another country to attend the conference.

    N.B. Prior MUN experience is NOT required!

  • For each application cycle, you will have to send us your CV and a 500-word motivation letter to our email address (info@leidenmun.com). These are the only materials we require. Keep in mind that both are needed for your application to be considered. You will then be informed via email whether you are selected for the next round, which is the interview.

  • If you are selected into the programme, you will have to attend the following training sessions every week up to the date of the conference itself:

    • Skills Labs on Tuesday evenings from 19:45 to 22:00;

    • Mock Sessions on Wednesday evenings from 19:00 to 22:00;

    • Individual PDP meetings (mentoring sessions) that are arranged at a time convenient for you and your PDP mentor; they last about 1-2 hours.

    • If available, you are also welcome to attend the embassy visits we organise, but the dates and times always differ. These are communicated internally to the delegation every week, when you attend the Prep Track.

    All of the training sessions take place in the Hague, at the Wijnhaven Leiden University building.

    You can read more about each type of training session here.
